About the Event
REGISTRATION WILL OPEN ON 2/11/26 @ 6 A.M. PLEASE COME BACK TO THIS SITE AT THAT TIME!
TO VOLUNTEER TO HELP WITH CLASS: Please register for class and follow the directions. Volunteers are required to arrive a half hour early and stay a half hour after class ends.
No need to bring your own rototiller! We'll have three tillers on-site, and we'll walk through giving them a full tune-up together. This means you'll get hands-on experience as we inspect, maintain, and rejuvenate each of these tillers.
This is a hands-on experience where you'll turn wrenches, smell a little like gasoline, and get to know your rototiller a bit more intimately. In this class, we'll focus on a full spring tune-up to get each rototiller ready for planting season. You'll learn how to inspect the machine, change oil, clean or replace air filters, service spark plugs, check belts and tines, and address common issues that appear after winter storage. We'll also cover fuel care, basic troubleshooting, and more.
This class is designed for everyday gardeners and homesteaders - not mechanics. If you've ever pulled a tiller out of the shed and hoped for the best, this class is for you. The goal is confidence, not perfection -- understanding how your machine works, how to maintain it, and how to start the season prepared.
The class will be taught by Jerry Houston, a long-time ETGC member with a passion for teaching and a desire to make life simple. The class is free to all 2026 ETGC members. Non-members are welcome to attend for a minimal $10 fee.
If you are not a member yet and would like to join, visit ETGC.org, download the membership application, mail it in with the required materials, and join us for an exciting new year of education, skills, and hands-on learning.
When the ground is ready, it's Tiller Time!
