About the Event

  1. THIS IS NOT OUR NORMAL CORN GLEAN!!!  This is a work/volunteer/harvest opportunity.
  2. We will be harvesting corn 3 days a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  Each "work day" should only take a couple of hours, if that.  The meet up time is 8 a.m. EASTERN TIME (7 a.m. CENTRAL time). Early morning harvesting is at the request of the farmer, so no additional times will be added.
  3. When you sign up, you will be added to a "pool" of members who are physically able and available to harvest corn on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday. The first "work" day is Wednesday, June 26th, and will be every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday thereafter.
  4. This opportunity will be limited to 5 members on each day.  Once signed up, we will contact you and let you know which date you will be working. If you are unavailable that day, we'll go to the next person on the list, but your name will stay in the "pool."
  5. You must be physically capable of picking and hauling corn out of the field and helping to load harvested corn in the shed.
  6. Members will be allowed to harvest/glean SOME corn for themselves at the END of the work day. The amount of corn for personal harvest will be limited and determined on the day of work.
  7. Once the field is at a specific harvest level set by the farmer, a member-only glean will be scheduled.
  8. There will be PLENTY of opportunity to participate as there are 4 blocks of corn planted at different times.  We will likely be working until the end of July. This is an excellent opportunity to get your volunteer hours in (if needed) and to get some corn for your family before the big glean.
  9. Open to all members, whether volunteer hours are needed or not, as long as the above conditions can be met.
